PCE 20th anniversaryLast updated: 2 April 2008 In 2007 the PCE celebrated its first 20 years. When set up in 1987, the PCE was the first independent environmental watchdog of its kind in the world. PCE20 ForumThe keynote event for the year was the PCE20 Forum: 'Advancing environmental sustainability' in Wellington on 1 and 2 March. It looked at New Zealand's sustainability progress over the past 20 years, and at what the next 20 might hold. The forum featured a world-class line-up of international experts and panelists on environmental sustainability. A high profile group of New Zealanders also took part. Other events followed on 4-8 March in Christchurch and Auckland. Twenty young film makers were awarded prizes on 9 November for their entries to the 'The Outlook for Someday' sustainability film challenge. The project was launched with PCE funding support as one of the events to mark its anniversary. The winning films came from throughout New Zealand from film makers aged nine to 20. Prime Minister Helen Clark presented their awards in a ceremony at TVNZ in Auckland. The films can be viewed on The Outlook for Someday website.
